On a visit to America in 1984, on Cape Cod, I discovered the most perfect art form in the universe, the music video. There were only about 20 in rotation, and they played them over and over again, and i watched them all day long (although i would take a food break during that super-boring Jefferson Starship one.) I was in love. Before i knew i wanted to be a musician, before I knew I wanted to be anything at all, I knew I wanted to be in a music video. When I returned to the Ivory Coast, I spent most of my time trying to convince my brother to hold that”state-of-the-art” 100 pound video camera on his shoulder and film me so i could create my own music videos. And commercials to go in between them. And VJ spots. No, we didn’t have a tripod. Finally, in 2010, thanks to the amazing talent of my wonderful friends (with expensive cameras and professional editing suites,) i have this beautiful real life music video in honor of my upcoming O Pioneers debut full-length album, and my life is complete. Thank you Kathy, Peter, Victor, Sig, Claude, Brent, and Rogelio.

The only way in hell I’m getting out of here for New Years is if some kind soul takes pity on me and invites me to their luxurious beachfront home. This ingenious plan was recently hatched over 2 bottles of wine and half a pumpkin pie with my partner in crime Signe. We took these photos to illustrate what excellent guests we can and will be. I became kind of Larry Flynt-y and insisted shirts come off. That happens to me sometimes. These are actual things will happen at the home of the kind host or hostess who invites us (we will sings songs about you! we will water your plants! We will be the entertainment at your party!) except for: Signe probably wont play the blowup guitar at your party because no sound comes out of it. We need that blowup amp already!!!!

I feel that if Peter Jackson read this blog, these photos combined with my proven elf ears from last blog would really send him over the edge and we’d be on a plane to the supercool House that Lord of the Rings built on Bora Bora for some beach time. So, you know, forward this!

Thanks to everyone who came to the Living Room for the debut of O Pioneers featuring Albert on drums and Beth on bass and keys. The next day I came to realize that in addition to the many videos Albert took of flickering candles, and of Beth and I speaking with Russian accents, i had forced my friends to take many pictures of the three of us. Perhaps fueled by too many “lollipops” halfway through the “shoot” Albert unbuttoned his shirt extremely provocatively! Also…i found photo documentation that proves once and for all i am a pointy-eared elf. Peter Jackson!

O Pioneers is playing a show in a couple weeks, exciting because there will be synths, new songs, and i have a new rehearsal space that used to be my bedroom!!

Anyone who’s every played music with me knows i love to say things like “make it sound like space trees” and “it should feel like its happening on the moon” or “sonar! spaceship!” so its NO SURPRISE that i will be a SPACE NINJA for Halloween! And I’ll have a twin SPACE NINJA at my side (aka Signe Yberg.) The costumes will feature sparkly katanas, mylar throwing stars, and feel, look and sound like the following. BEWARE the SPACE NINJAS…..and also invite us to your party.

its true….i have completely been ignoring this blog and many other things for many months, as i work on my upcoming album in between catfights with the recession. The recession knows MMA (mixed martial arts, the craze thats sweeping the nation) and fights dirty!
